About Me

My name is Michael Brochstein. I am a lifelong resident of New York City. I started day hiking in the early 1980's and began to lead hikes later that same decade. I have led numerous hikes since then.  I've led day hikes for various groups including the Appalachian Mountain Club, the Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club of Greater New York and the Ansche Chesed Outings Group. In leading these hikes I created an information sheet for each one which included driving directions from NYC and my notes for the hike itself.  I migrated these to the internet and later established the www.NYCdayHiking.com website specifically for them in 2006.The above photo of me was taken a few miles from Wonder Lake in Denali National Park in 2005.
